Charity Dance Off Application

Welcome to Charity Dance Off, a twist to the popular event known as “Floor wars!” This event is labeled as a PG-13 event and may get a bit spicy at times. After all applications are submitted, a bracket will be made and presented at the contest. Charity Dance Off is a dance contest between dancers. Each round will consist of two dancers battling each other. Music will be random and none of the dancers will know what’s next. After each round, the judges will score each dancer and decide who moves on in the bracket.

Format

Each dancer will get a predetermined time to dance. Both dancers on opposing sides of the stage will go twice per competitive round. If this is confusing, there are multiple videos on youtube showcasing how this format works. You can look up Floor Wars or Charity Dance Off (make sure to add a convention name or furry dance to the search) to see the format in action. Charity Dance Off is very similar to Floor Wars, with the adaptation of dancers being able to raise money for the convention’s charity. Every dancer has a bucket- after the first competitive round, volunteers will go around collecting the audience’s money towards a dancer they’d wish to vote for. After each dancer has gone at least once, money will no longer be collected after every round. However, viewers will be encouraged to visit our charity table any time during the event and donate in a dancer’s name. At the end of the competition there will be the tournament winner and the Charity Pick.

RULES FOR COMPETING

All competitors are bound by these rules. Violating the rules may result in disqualification from the event.

Division Rules

Depending on the sign-up of participants, there will normally be two divisions. These categories will not compete against each other unless both categories need to be meshed into one. This will happen only if there aren’t enough sign ups to fill in the slots required for both categories.

At smaller conventions it’s hard to determine how many sign ups there will be year by year, so this is the backup in case there isn’t enough. In the case that there are more sign ups than slots available, the competition list will be first come first serve.

  • Non-suit – This is for those who wish to partake but don’t have or wish to use a fursuit.

To participate in this category, you must have the basics, no shoes? no pants/shorts? no shirt? no dancing. No offensive apparel/logos. This is a PG-13 event. No loose or baggy outfits that may hinder or hurt you during your dance.

  • Fursuiters – This is for those who wish to participate in a fursuit. To participate in this category, you must have the basics, Head and Paws. No offensive apparel/logos. This is a PG13 event. No loose or baggy outfits that may hinder or hurt you during your dance.

Competition Rules

  • DO NOT HIT/TOUCH/ETC your competitor! This will result in disqualification. Remember there is a bubble around them and this is all in fun! (hugs, handshakes, etc. are welcome in between and after battles with consent from the other competitor)
  • No age restriction
  • No props (other than clothing on you)
  • No excessive “burns”, offensive gestures, signs, and/or logos – this is a PG-13 rated event
  • No interrupting other dancers’ sets by taking up floor space or interfering with their turn.
  • No waiting out songs/requesting a song change. If there is a song that you would refuse to dance to for personal reasons, please reach out to [email protected]
  • We ask all dancers to arrive ready to battle. Arrive at least an hour before the event starts time. If you are not present at roll-call, you will be replaced or disqualified. We only have 16 spots available in each division bracket.

Behavior

  • Any aggressive or bullying behavior will NOT be tolerated.
  • Consequences of this behavior can result in disqualification of dance events, or even blacklisting from future AEIOU conventions.
  • If you witness any behaviors like this, please contact either lead staff of dance events, con security, or email [email protected]
At any time the Master of Ceremonies or a Judge can stop the dance for a rule violation. At this time you will be disqualified and asked to step away from the dance floor.
